- Leadership:
We embrace leadership at all levels of our school. The structure of the Montessori classroom allows children to grow their skills to become great leaders through taking accountability of their learning, caring for their environment and mentorship of peers.
- Montessori:
Our school utilizes the Montessori philosophy, materials, beautifully prepared environment and employs highly qualified teachers who meet the highest standards of Montessori training.
- Citizenship: Our students get involved and make a valuable impact on our local community and our neighbors. Our school infuses the value of and encourages our students’ sense of public virtue and to sacrifice time and resources to build our community while standing for what they believe is in the common good.
- Socratic: We encourage our students and team to ask questions, and embrace being questioned to develop critical thinking skills and examination of their beliefs.
- Classical: Classical education is about mastery. Reading primary materials is how some of the world's best leaders were educated, and we embrace engaging in these Classics along with the Montessori materials to give our students a learning opportunity equivalent to the elite of history.
Overview of the Elementary Curriculum
At Sandwich Montessori School, our goal is to prepare students to face the world as kinder, braver, stronger people. By educating the whole child, we embrace the mind, body, and spirit and work to support and develop students in all areas of their being.
Within our curriculum and philosophy, developmentally appropriate and rigorous lessons and support students as they cultivate an understanding of themselves, the world around them, and the impact they make. Students master critical thinking skills, empathy, independence creativity, resilience, and stewardship.
